Giulietta Register AGM - 21 April 2024
This years AGM and Lunch at the Kingfisher, Bedford, UK, was well attended. The chilly conditions brought 36 members in a blend of Giuliettas and moderns. Chairman, Duncan Ferns quickly steered us through the formal requirements of approving the accounts, and re-electing the Committee members. Duncan announced that Andrew Stevens would be retiring from the Committee at the end of 2024 . He thanked Andrew for his organisation of UK events during his years in the role and for his enthusiastic support of the Club and presented him with a token of the Club’s appreciation. Then we were on to reports of the Club’s activities in the past year, membership numbers, GiuliettaLetta magazine matters, website and Facebook Group figures, and the events programme for 2024.
The Editor, Bernard Lien-Lambert, presented the Contribution to the GiuliettaLetta Award to Mike Baum for his always informative and entertaining Letta From America articles and other thoughtful and incisive contributions. Mike lives in Los Angeles and understandably was not at the AGM to receive the award. Treasurer, Martyn Everett accepted the trophy on Mike’s behalf.
Duncan Ferns presented the Exception Service Award to Simon Gunney, for his unfailing support to Register members in all aspects of the car’s needs through his father and son (Simon) restoration company, Red Castle Classics, based in Caerphilly, Wales. Simon’s Portello Parts company has recently bought the Alfa Stop Ltd business from Tony Stevens who has retired.
Mike and Simon were unanimously considered most worthy recipients of these awards and warmly applauded by all present. Then we had lunch and were back chewing the fat in the carpark.
