Annual General Meeting - 6 April 2025
Members getting re-acquainted at the AGM.
Our Annual General Meeting was held at the Donnington Grove Hotel on Sunday, 6 April 2025. Thirty members attended the AGM, with 14 Giulias and Giuliettas: 7 Spiders, 5 Sprints, one SS and one Ti.
Outside informalities before the formalities inside.
In his fith year in the role, our Chairman, Duncan Ferns, reviewed the events of 2024- the AGM on 21 April; the AutoItalia Hill Climb at Prescott with three members competing; the tour to the Vernasca Silver Flag Hillclimb at Castell d’Arquato and Vernasca, near Parma; AROC-UK National Alfa Day; and the Autumn tour to Dorset based at the Cheddington Estate. He outlined some cost savings with no loss of quality of service to members but pointed out the ongoing rise in the cost of postage for the ‘Letta which now significantly exceeded the production and printing costs. However, the printed ‘Letta will continue to be the Club’s main link with all members globally, and annual subscriptions for 2025 were held at the same level as 2024.
Chairman, Duncan Ferns addressing the AGM
Andrew Stevens retired from the Management Team during 2024 and was thanked at last year’s AGM. Peter Osborne, who was co-opted to the Management Team in mid-2024, was formally voted on to join our Management Team. Peter will take on the co-ordination of some UK events, the first one of which has already taken place, the Italian Car Day at The Departure Lounge, Alton, reported on elsewhere in this issue.
The others members of the Management Team were thanked for their service to the club and their willingness to continue in their roles for 2025: Bernard Lien Lambert (Letta Editor), Peter Bradnock (European Tour, Website & Facebook), Peter Yaxley (Membership) and Martyn Everett (Finance).
Exceptional Service Award 2025 to Gary Millward, UK
Duncan presented the Exceptional Service Award 2025 to Gary Millward. Gary joined the Register in 2002 with an off-the-road restoration project. After several years thoughtful rest(!) followed by intense work, his red Spider was completed in 2021, and Gary and Ashley came on their first Autumn tour to Kent. Having completed three tours, Gary stepped up and volunteered to organise the Dorset tour in 2024. It really was an excellent tour and it is primarily for this that he specifically deserves the Excellent Service Award for 2025. Gary and his wife Ashley have also been on the 2023 and 2024 European tours with the club where they have demonstrated their real enthusiasm for the car. Gary responded with his usual humility, humour and his thanks and appreciation for the club.

Contribution to the Giuliettaletta Award 2025 to Mark Thornton, USA
Whilst based in Seattle, USA, it was understandable that Mark could not attend our AGM in the UK, so Peter Bradnock accepted the award on Mark’s behalf, and the trophy has since been shipped to Mark’s home.
The award is very well deserved for Mark’s technical contributions on a wide range of technical subjects specifically targeted at Giulietta ownership. His style of writing is clear and open for amateurs to understand, as well as no doubt 'refreshing' the knowledge of our professional mechanics.
In his message responding to the news of his award, Mark said “It is my continuing privilege to see the articles in GiuliettaLetta, a publication brimming with content, beautifully produced. I must give credit to many others who have helped me with my Alfas over the years, people who together with countless others around the world make up the vibrant place we call The World of Alfa Romeo…These Alfas are vivid exemplars of what can be achieved with sporting automobiles having entirely analogue controls, prized engineering artifacts of a time far different from today.”
