Derbyshire was Damp this Autumn Tour
Come rain or shine we were determined to enjoy the wonderful roads and magnificent scenery that Derbyshire offers even in mid-October. Lunch at the on-site Red Lion pub and a tour of the National Tramway Museum at Crich on Friday 12th kicked off our long weekend. Stalwarts of our Autumn trips welcomed new comers and their lovely white Giulia Spider bought in Italy. Santo’s Farm Hotel at Higham was our was very comfortable base with most congenial and helpful service from all the staff despite our coinciding with a wedding party on the first night and a Diamond wedding celebrations on the second. Rain cleared on Saturday and the wind abated in the afternoon to allow us some magnificent driving to end the day’s happy peregrinations.
Sunday was heavy rain to start and half our number had decided to head for home. The rest pressed intrepidly on to a delightful lunch at the Izaak Walton Hotel before going our separate ways.
Next year we are off to the Lake District.
